Events & Occasions with Beenius
Beenius at Your Event
Beenius is a reusable workshop material made of bamboo sticks and Infinity wax for events, retreats, conferences and training sessions. Developed by Solarpunk NOW, it allows groups to build three-dimensional models, structures and prototypes in seconds – without electricity, without glue, without consumables. A set accompanies several hundred sessions and fits completely into a cotton bag.
We bring this modular prototyping tool into your program – as an icebreaker, in-depth format or showcase. Built in seconds, modified at any time, packed away again without waste.
How Beenius Works at Events
As soon as bamboo sticks and wax are on the table, everyone is busy – literally. Passive consumption turns into active construction. Discussions become physical, ideas visible, and the energy in the room perceptibly shifts.
Strategies, organizational structures, or permaculture systems often remain abstract in lectures. With Beenius, these contents can be translated into three-dimensional models. A system gets nodes. A process gets axes. A problem gets connections. What was previously unclear can suddenly be moved, reconnected, and discussed together.
When a model is built in the middle of a table, there is no longer a front or a back. All participants work on the same structure, see the same connections, and propose changes directly. Hierarchies dissolve for the duration of the session. This is not only more pleasant, but it also leads to better results because quiet voices dare to contribute.
Beenius can be assembled in seconds and disassembled just as quickly. A group needs no preparation, no glue gun, no material cart. This massively lowers the threshold for spontaneous exercises. If there is time left in the program, a short building session can be inserted at any time – without anyone having to set up slides or sort materials first.
An average workshop leaves behind stacks of used flipcharts, sticky dots, and moderation cards. With Beenius, after the event, there's exactly one bag left – the same one that was on the table in the morning. Wax and sticks can be used hundreds of times. This not only changes the waste balance but also the feeling in the room. Sustainability transforms from a lecture topic into a tangible material in hand.
Beenius fits into a cotton bag and requires neither electricity nor a flat surface. It works just as well in the conference room as in the forest, on an open stage as in a hotel lobby. This is a real advantage for festivals, outdoor retreats, or hybrid events: no technical limitations, no cable clutter, no noise level that disturbs conversations.
What hands have built, the mind doesn't quickly forget. Participants remember Beenius sessions significantly longer than traditional program items. A photo of one's own construction is more impactful than any slide from a slide deck. When the event is over, not only the knowledge remains, but also the feeling of having co-created something.
In the video, you'll see what happens when a group gets their hands on the set for the first time. The initial constructions grow in seconds, the language shifts from "I think" to "look here." This very shift from talking to building is the effect we seek at events.
The material doesn't dry out, lasts for hundreds of sessions, and fits into a bag. A vibrant format doesn't need more than that.

Beenius vs. Classic Workshop Material
Classic workshop materials have accompanied training sessions for decades. Here's what changes when Beenius comes to the table.
What's changing
Beenius
Previous workshop materials
Reusability
Beenius
Hundreds of sessions, no material wear.
Previous workshop materials
Labelled once, used once – then it's in the bin.
Durability
Beenius
Wax does not dry out, sticks are tear-resistant, everything is water-repellent.
Previous workshop materials
No creasing, tearing, or sticking; pens dry out.
Ecological level
Beenius
Bamboo, natural wax, cotton bag. No disposable packaging, no adhesives, no plastic waste. Production remains deliberately low-threshold and regionally scalable.
Previous workshop materials
Post-its, sticky dots, markers, and flipchart paper generate new special waste at every event. Adhesives and solvents end up in general waste, and coated paper is difficult to recycle.
Cost per session
Beenius
One-time investment. Amortized after three to five sessions. From then on, running costs are close to zero.
Previous workshop materials
Every workshop incurs costs for consumables. Over the year, these amounts add up to a three- to four-digit figure.
Structure and Logistics
Beenius
Open the bag, done. No power, no preparation, no pre-sorting of adhesive dots.
Previous workshop materials
Tripods, flipcharts, marker tests, adhesive tapes, stacks of Post-its. Preparation time per workshop often 30 minutes or more.
Effect
Beenius
Three dimensions, physical modeling, shared central table.
Previous workshop materials
Two dimensions, vertical hierarchy on the wall, individual contributions.
Frequent questions about events
How many sets do we need for our event?
Rule of thumb: one set per 4 to 6 people. So for a 30-person conference, 5 to 7 sets. For longer retreats, it's better to have a few more so that participants can experiment outside of the scheduled program.
Can we rent Beenius instead of buying it?
Yes. For one-off events, we offer rental packages – including shipping and return shipping. Write to us using the contact form below and we will suggest the right package.
Do you also handle the facilitation?
Optional. We can be on-site, give a short introduction, or moderate an entire building session. Works well as an event kick-off or as a 60-minute format in the program.
Does this also work outdoors and in the rain?
Bamboo and wax are weather-resistant. As long as the wax doesn't get hotter than 40 degrees Celsius, models can easily be built outdoors. In case of rain, a pavilion is sufficient; the material itself won't be damaged.
How does Beenius fit into our branding?
Beenius itself is visually understated: natural materials, no branding. Your constructions can be accentuated with yarn or fabric in terms of color. If desired, we can supply the bags with your logo tag.
How do we combine Beenius with Infinity Stonepaper?
Very strong. Beenius provides the spatial model in the middle of the table, Infinity Stonepaper the rewritable work surface around it. Both materials can be repacked without waste and complement each other didactically.
Is Beenius an alternative to Lego Serious Play?
Yes. Beenius is often used as a sustainable, material-agnostic alternative to Lego Serious Play – without predefined components, without brand appearance, without a supply chain. The models are created from pure basic shapes, i.e., bamboo sticks and Infinity wax. This opens up the space of possibilities for strategy, permaculture, art, and organizational topics alike. One set is a one-time purchase and accompanies hundreds of sessions, instead of having to be re-procured for each workshop.
