CARDS

CARDS

They sit exactly between the small Notes and an A4 sheet: enough room for a heading and content, small enough to sort in your hand. Ten of them, write on them, wipe them clean with water, start again.

How it works

Write. Wipe. Next.

Write on the card with thermosensitive ink, Frixion for example. Once a round is over, it goes briefly under water or a damp cloth and is ready for the next one. No eraser, no abrasion, nothing used up.

In everyday use

One format, many roles.

A task list in the morning, a moderation card at midday, a note on the fridge in the evening. The same card, depending on what you need right now.

Card used as a bookmark in a book

Cards used as flash cards

Decorated Card used as an art card
01
As a bookmark

The thought you have while reading goes straight onto the card. No reaching for the phone, because once it is in your hand the distraction is there.

02
As a shopping list

Fits in your trouser pocket, survives the trip and is blank again within seconds at home.

03
In the workshop

Enough room for a heading and content, and still modular: the cards can be pushed around on the table until the structure holds.

04
For things to memorise

Question on the front, answer on the back. Once it sticks, wipe it and put new content on.

05
On the fridge

With a magnet or a little water the note stays where everyone can see it. Folded, it stands on the table as a small info sign.

06
As an art card

Design the front with a permanent pen, the back stays rewritable. Half card, half tool.

Material and facts

The material in brief.

Stone instead of pulp, usable again and again. What the cards are made of and what that means for handling them.

Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver

What you get

10 Cards measuring 18 × 12.75 cm, plus an envelope made of Stonepaper.

Composition

60 percent limestone powder, a by-product of quarrying, and 40 percent HDPE as a binder. Part of the HDPE comes from already recycled material.

450 g/m²

Sturdier than ordinary paper. Made in a dry process: no wood, no process water, no chlorine bleaching.

Waterproof and tear resistant

The surface does not absorb, the colour sits on top and can be taken off again. Grease and rain do not bother the cards.

Assembly and shipping

Cutting, rounded corners, envelope and shipping are handled by the Christophorus Inklusionswerkstätten in Fürstenwalde, Germany.

Disposal

Residual waste, not paper recycling. In the paper stream the plastic content disturbs the process.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference from the NOTES?Ten large ones instead of twenty small ones.

A Card is twice the size of a Note. A whole thought with a heading fits on it, it sits well in the hand and works as a bookmark, a shopping list or a moderation card. The twenty Notes are there to build structure: columns, clusters, an order that can be shifted around. If you are writing, take the Cards. If you are ordering things, take the Notes.

How do the cards stay on the wall, and what surface works best?Water and physics. Glass works best.

It works through adhesion. The cards are very smooth and hold fast with a drop of water on the back. They work best on windows, mirrors, whiteboards, metal cabinets or smooth doors. On woodchip wallpaper or wood it does not work. On the fridge a magnet does the job, pins work too, the material does not tear out.

Can I fold or cut the cards?Yes, both work well.

Folded, a card stands on the table as a small info sign or fits in your trouser pocket. The material does not crack when folded. Cutting works with scissors, the edge does not fray.

Which pen should I use?For reuse: thermosensitive ink.

Frixion from Pilot comes off most easily, a barely damp cloth is enough. Water-based felt tip pens can be removed as well, but they need water and a bit of pressure. Please do not use whiteboard markers. Permanent pens stay for good, which is exactly right for a decorated front.

Can I test my own pens beforehand?Yes, on the Stonepaper envelope.

The envelope the cards come in is made of the same material. Try your pens on it and see how well they come off again. That way you know before you write on the cards.

How does it feel?Velvety, cool, substantial.

Stonepaper consists largely of limestone powder. It feels like a smooth, cool pebble. At 450 g/m² a card sits firmly in the hand and does not bend while you sort.

Does the writing smudge when the cards are stacked?Let it dry briefly, then it holds.

Stonepaper does not absorb the ink, it sits on top. That is what makes the writing feel soft, but it means giving it a few seconds. After that the writing is smudge resistant enough for stacking and mixing.

Can I use them as a gift card?Yes, permanent on the front, wipeable on the back.

Decorate the front with a permanent pen or acrylic and it stays. The back stays rewritable, so the person you give it to can keep using the card.

How do I dispose of them eventually?Residual waste, not paper recycling.

Because of the plastic content, Stonepaper disturbs the paper recycling process. The cards therefore belong in residual waste.
