Why this pen in particular
The ink sits on top, and comes off again.
Stonepaper does not absorb. What you write sits on the surface instead of soaking in. Thermosensitive ink dissolves through heat and friction and can be taken off with a barely damp cloth, without residue and without the surface going dull. It is exactly this combination that turns a sheet into a surface that becomes empty again and again.

What works on Stonepaper.
Not every pen is suitable. Here is what comes off again, what stays and why.
Thermosensitive ink
The ink from Pilot disappears with heat. On Stonepaper a barely damp cloth is enough for that, because the colour sits on top anyway.
No ghosting
Because the surface does not absorb, no shadow of the old writing stays behind after wiping, not even after many rounds.
Refillable
The Clicker takes standard Frixion refills, which are available in any stationery shop. The pen stays, the refill is swapped.
What also works
Water based felt tip pens can be removed as well, they need water and a little pressure. Pencil works and can be erased.
What stays
Whiteboard markers and permanent pens stay on Stonepaper for good. For a layer that is meant to remain that is right, otherwise not.
Test first
With CARDS and NOTES the cover is made of Stonepaper, with the folder a test strip is included. Try out your own pens there before you write on a whole surface.

Why Frixion of all pens?Because the ink sits on top and comes off without residue.
Stonepaper does not absorb, so the colour does not soak in. Thermosensitive ink dissolves through heat and friction, and on this smooth surface a barely damp cloth is enough for that. No shadow of the old writing stays behind, and the surface does not go dull even after many rounds. Other wipeable pens can only manage this with more water and pressure.
Can I buy the pens on their own?We stock them only as an addition to the Stonepaper.
We are not a stationery shop. The pens are here because they belong to the material: without the right pen nothing comes off again. So please order them together with a sheet, a card or a set. If you only need pens, you can get Frixion in any stationery shop.
We are a school and need a lot of pens. Can we get them through you?Better through an office supplier.
For larger quantities you are better off with a stationery dealer or an office supplier: faster to deliver, usually cheaper, and with framework contracts for institutions. Frixion from Pilot is available everywhere. Our focus is on the paper. For Stonepaper in bulk please get in touch, there are tiered prices for that.
Which of the two do I take?Clicker for text, Marker for surface.
On NOTES, CARDS, A4 and in the folder the Clicker writes finely enough for a whole thought to fit. On Boards and the Board XXL the writing should be readable from a distance, which is what the chisel tip of the Marker is for, and four colours separate the layers. If you have both, you reach for one depending on the surface.
Can I buy replacement refills?Yes, Frixion refills are available everywhere.
The Clicker takes standard Frixion refills from the stationery shop or the supermarket. The pen stays, only the refill is swapped.
Do the pens work on ordinary paper too?Yes, there the ink is erased instead of wiped.
On paper the ink soaks in and is released by the friction heat of the eraser at the end of the pen. On Stonepaper it sits on top, where it comes off with a damp cloth. Both work, only the route is a different one.
What happens in heat or cold?Above about 60 degrees the writing disappears.
Thermosensitive ink becomes invisible in warmth. A sheet lying in a car in full sun can lose its writing. Conversely, in strong cold it partly comes back. For anything that should stay for certain, use a permanent pen or take a photo.
Why not whiteboard markers?They stay on Stonepaper permanently.
Standard whiteboard markers are tuned to coated boards. On Stonepaper they adhere permanently and can no longer be taken off. If you deliberately want to leave a layer standing, that is usable, otherwise the sheet is fixed at that point.
