Find your FLOW: the analogue method for deep focus

A tidy desk and a clear head: that is what FLOW is about. It is a simple, analogue system built around the Infinity Stonepaper Board. With it we work with concentration, make thoughts visible and move projects forward with clarity and creativity.

In this article we show you how to set FLOW up and why this board has become our favourite application, even though it stays entirely analogue.

Analogue flow with digital support

Digital tools demand a lot of attention. FLOW adds a clear, tangible working space that complements apps, tabs and notifications sensibly. The digital applications then come in exactly where they save real time.

How to set up your FLOW system

1. Missions

On the left of the board are the missions, that is, what you have set out to do. Unlike classic to do lists, this is about deliberate, clearly worded intentions. Once something is done, you simply wipe it away. Finished.

2. FLOW space

The large area in the middle is your personal working space. Everything the current mission needs comes about here: texts, sketches, overviews or creative mind maps. Everyone shapes this area differently, and that is exactly what makes FLOW so versatile.

While you work you can rearrange, add, cross out and wipe off at any time. The process stays alive, and that is decisive for real concentration.

3. Holding area

While you work, thoughts often come up that belong to a different task. These go straight into the holding area and stay safely kept there. Later you sort them calmly and transfer them digitally if needed, into Google Tasks for instance.

4. Idea box

On the right of the board there is room for spontaneous thoughts, flashes of insight and impulses. These ideas later move into a document of their own, for example a digital idea diary. That way every thought is kept and you stay in the flow.

5. Time windows

A clearly set time window often helps. 15 or 25 minutes of concentrated work in one go, then a deliberate break. An analogue timer or an hourglass keeps you in rhythm.

6. Saving and processing further

Once the mission is finished, one photo is enough. With text recognition applications the content moves into the digital world and can be used straight away. That saves typing time and creates room for the next step.

7. Reset

A damp cloth is enough and the FLOW space is free for the next mission. The surface stays wipeable and can be written on again and again.
