On to the humus revolution!

Auf zur Humusrevolution!

Hello, I am Agnes Friedrich. When I look at the world, I feel a deep anticipation of everything we can create together. Many people wait for change to come from above. You have the power to start right now and bring concrete utopias into your everyday life. The humus revolution is a call to you to become a shaper of your own surroundings.

The hidden world beneath your feet

Hands holding dark, living humus
The quiet power of living earth.

Every centimetre of new humus is pure climate protection. On the balcony, in a shady backyard or on the tree pit outside the front door: everywhere the beginning works straight away. A handful of healthy earth holds more organisms than there are people on our planet.

This wonder stays alive as long as the soil is loose, covered and well rooted. Light equipment keeps the pores open, a permanent ground cover feeds the soil life, and plant diversity replaces reaching for pesticides, fungicides and herbicides. If the top layer is left in peace, the microorganisms keep their habitat and the soil holds on to its carbon.

You can take this direction at any time. Healthy soil binds large amounts of climate gases. It works like a giant sponge that stores water and cools the landscape.

Permaculture as our new system

Learning from nature means observing, understanding and shaping.

For me, permaculture is the key to change. It teaches you to see the world with new eyes. You observe nature calmly, understand its ingenious mechanisms and work with them. That is how barren ground turns back into green oases. Picture a forest garden where planting happens in many layers in the smallest of spaces. Every element serves several functions at once, and every function is carried by several elements.

One example makes it clear: a chicken provides eggs, loosens the soil, keeps snails and larvae in balance and fertilises the earth naturally. This is how intelligent cycles come about, and you and all of nature benefit from them. Monotonous monocultures become lasting permacultures.

The cycle in which everything keeps working

Natural abundance and cycles in practice.

In nature every material becomes food for the next step. These very principles can be put to use from today:

  • Let the soil work in peace and keep the structure that has grown.
  • Lay on mulch so that moisture stays in the soil and the microorganisms find food.
  • Collect rainwater and hold it wisely in the landscape.
  • Bring in trees and shrubs and use their power for a stable microclimate.

Trees are gigantic stores for carbon dioxide. We protect them with passion and creativity.

Our educational materials work with Infinity Stonepaper. The material is made of 60 percent calcium carbonate and 40 percent HDPE, is produced in a dry extrusion process and weighs 450 g/m². It is waterproof, tear resistant, wipeable and rewritable: written on with a Pilot Frixion, the surface is ready for the next idea again once it has been wiped. Cradle to Cradle Certified Silver is in place for the material. After use it belongs in the residual waste.

Your part in the movement

Let us bring permaculture into the middle of society together. We are making the regenerative design of our living spaces as everyday and as popular as yoga. You can start from any level of knowledge, experience grows along the way. Learning together brings more than your own green oasis: a deep understanding of natural cycles, a living community and a new sense of responsibility for our earth.

Here on our platform you will find ideas and inspiration for your own start. Every seed you plant is an active step towards a more beautiful world.

When the soil beneath us is alive, our shared future blossoms too.

Our documentary shows how quickly such a change can happen: within twelve days, plain lawn becomes a living forest garden.
